FAMILY HISTORY TREASURES

Volunteer Notes:

Special Unique Findings or Bible Features:
Only one date is given with a name. 1862 is given along with the name Henry but no indication of the significance of the date.

No relationships are explained although there is an entry that says, “my fathers name”. The first name can’t be read but the middle name is Leopold.

There is a name in the center circle of the front cover but I am not able to make it out without guessing.

Some of the pages appear to have been wet and the writing is partially washed out.
There are several entries where only a few letters can be identified and not full names.

There is a faint entry next to the name John. The month can’t be read but it appears it says 8 as the day and 1845 for the year.

An address next to the name Sophie E Elsner is given as 358 North Salina, Syracuse, NY

Research within Family Search contains the 1870 census that lists Dr. Leopold Elsner as the father. Henriette, Henry, Sophia and Simon are shown as children. Find A Grave shows that Hamachen was Leopold’s first wife and he married Anna when Hamachen died. Rebeca and John are shown as children of Leopold and Anna. Since no relationships are listed in the Bible or dates given to make conclusions based on facts, the relationships found in family Search and Find A Grave are possibilities for the names in this Bible.

Thoughts From Our Volunteers:
I pray this Bible finds its way home to family.
