Treasures Found:
1895 membership certificate of Elva Macer in the organization called, The Coming Men of America, a secret society for boys founded in 1894 by siblings, Brother William & Joseph Hunter of Oak Park Illinois.

The Coming Men of America, formed before the Boy Scouts, was influenced by Freemasonry, had a secret handshake, password, and sign language called Bestography. It emphasized patriotism and the golden rule and was open to boys of good moral character aged 12 years or older.

Thoughts From Our Volunteers:
This is a wonderful heirloom of the Macer family. Joseph Macer’s parents were immigrants from England. Sadly, Joseph and his wife, Aggie, had to bury three of their ten children. I hope this Bible will eventually end up back in the hands of a Macer descendant.
